Unusual Noises or Rattles?
Apart from the click of your freehub as you freewheel down the road, a bike should run quietly. So if you are hearing any type of noise, get it looked at. A click, clunk, creak, crack, rattle or rumble can be a sign of a worn or loose component. If it is left unchecked, more problems can be on their way!
Gears That Don’t Shift?
You might have cables or wires (you might actually have neither)! Regardless of how they operate, a press of a gear lever should move you quickly and quietly to the next gear. A problem with cable tension, worn cables, gear alignment or trim could be the problem. Your ride will be so much better with a gear check and adjustment.
No Faith In Your Brakes?
You want brakes you can trust! Does the brake lever pull back too much? Does your bike not slow down as much as it used to? Are your brakes making a grinding or squealing noise? Safe and effective brakes give you the confidence to enjoy your bike ride
Bike Repair
Think of a mobile bike repair as something that will FIX your bike. A bike repair will stop that noise, correct the alignment of your gears, making them shift smoothly and put the stopping power back into your brakes.
Individual and straightforward repairs typically have set costs, such as fitting a new chain or carrying out a brake adjustment. If a bike repair is less straightforward, an hourly rate would be charged. But don’t worry, I’m very good at quickly diagnosing and fixing problems!
A bike that isn’t regularly serviced will inevitably develop problems that will require repairs. These repairs can often be costly, so it’s best to keep a schedule of regular servicing.
Bike Service
Think of a mobile bike service as something that will MAINTAIN your bike. A bike service will check that every part of your bike is working properly, correctly adjusted and lubricated. A bike service will also ensure that important parts are checked for wear, and replaced before they can cause an issue.
Usually, the cost of a bike service is set, it will only change if parts are needed, or unexpected issues are found. I’ll always keep you updated with any costs.

Basic Bike Service
A good checkover of your bike. All the esentials are checked, but adjustments are limited to your brakes and gears. I’ll let you know what is worn and needs replacing, and what will need some additional work. This bike service is the minimum required to make sure your bike is safe and rideable.
This service is a suitable option if your bike is in good condition, maybe doesn’t get ridden a lot and just needs this regular check. However, if your bike does need further work, I’ll give you a price for any additional parts and fitting.
Standard Bike Service
It might say Standard in the name, but this bike service is thorough. Suitable for bikes that are ridden regularly, maybe every weekend, or as a commuter bike. It’s the basic service and much more!
There is no additional labour charge for fitting basic consumables such as externally routed cables, brake pads and chains (parts to pay for). This often makes this service more cost effective than the basic option. However, more complex tasks such as replacing bearings will incur an additional charge.
Comprehensive Bike Service (Currently Unavailable)
Consider this bike service as an overhaul, something you might want to consider doing every year. I’ll remove your drivetrain, clean it and refit it, making sure everyting continues to be servicible. Your bearings will be checked and regreased, and wheels given more attention.
This work is much more detailed, and can take several hours, so I’ll collect your bike and return it once the bike service is complete, at times that are convenient for you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Some of the core questions I’m asked about my mobile bike repairs & bike servicing.
Can you give my bike a health check?
Yes, a health check is a check of each part of the bike. Checking for wear, adjustment and function. These are essential for bikes that may not have been ridden for some time. I’ll let you know what is ‘Green – OK’, ‘Amber – Requires Attention’ or ‘Red – Unsafe/Not Working’
Do you only do ‘mobile‘ work?
No, although most work including bike repairs, bike servicing and maintenance training is carried out at your home, I can also collect your bike and return it when the work is complete. This is often preferred if you don’t have much available time.
What hours do you work?
The service I offer is aimed at making things super convenient for you. So, if I’m available, this means weekdays, weekends, mornings, afternoons and evenings are all possible. It’s your bike, at your location and at your convenience!
Do I receive any paperwork?
Yes, absolutely. No matter what work/service I carry out for you, you can receive details of what I have carried out and the associated charges and receipt.
Do you clean bikes during a service?
No, I will wipe and clean any area of your bike that I need access to in order to check and adjust components.
During a Comprehensive service, I will remove and degrease the chain, cassette and chainset.
Do your bike service prices include parts and labour?
Parts are always an additional charge. But a labour charge to fit parts depends on the type of service you book. Info on each service can be seen here. Alternatively, use the form below to get in touch and ask any further questions.
How do you take payment?
Payment is preferred by card, but cash can be accepted (although I don’t carry cash notes or change with me). Card payments are via a card machine and receipts can be sent directly by email or SMS.
Will you travel to my area?
My core region is Newcastle and it’s surrounding areas such as Ponteland, Gosforth, Jesmond, Heaton and Kenton. I do travel to most ‘NE‘ postcodes for mobile bike repairs and bike servicing, and I’ve also visited ‘SR‘ and ‘DH‘ postcodes for event work too.
Do you service & repair Electric Bikes (e-bikes)?
YES – I’ll happily repair and service any mechanical aspect of your [UK Legal] eBike, and I do this for lots of my customers.
I’m also Bosch certified to diagnose, update and service your Bosch eBike.
Where will you work and do I need to be there?
I work at your location – this is your home.
It’s best if you are there, and I will always try to arrange that, but if you can’t be at home, that’s ok, just make sure someone is available to meet me and help answer questions.
